Snowdrop Launches New Versions of its HR and Payroll Software at Softworld 2004 Snowdrop Systems will launch updated versions of its HR and Payroll software modules at the Softworld exhibition at the NEC Birmingham, on 20-21 October. Version 5.2 has been designed to streamline communication between the HR and IT departments, speeding up HR processes for new starters, as well as enabling organisations to recruit more easily through their intranet and web site. Get computer access ready for new employees A new component, Snowdrop Directory Services (SDS), provides a link between Snowdrop’s HR and Payroll software and an organisation’s IT network. The new component automatically creates network access for new employees as soon as their data is entered into the HR system, removing the need for HR to consult the IT department. The system can also disable network access when an employee leaves the organisation. This is triggered when the individual’s leaving date is entered onto the HR system, protecting the organisation from potential security breaches from ex-employees. SDS is designed to be fully compatible with other IT systems. For example, it can link to the email system to create new email addresses for new starters and communicate these to other parts of the business. Snowdrop Systems’ chief executive, Michael Richards, comments: "For a new employee, turning up on their first day and finding they don’t have network access or an email account can be very off-putting. It’s important to create a good impression with new starters by sorting out all their IT privileges before they arrive." "Not only this, but the security risks in not revoking network account privileges when an employee leaves can be considerable." Recruit seamlessly via your intranet or website A new component within Snowdrop Spring, the recruitment module, will further streamline the recruitment process by allowing vacancies logged directly into the Spring database to be published on the organisation’s internet or intranet site at the click of a button. Applicant information captured via the website can now be fed directly back into the Snowdrop database, including any CV attachments. Recruitment managers no longer need to re-key data already provided by their applicants. Keep up with employment legislation Snowdrop Evergreen, the employee records module, has been updated to manage processes surrounding employment legislation, such as discipline and grievance or requests to work flexibly, plus guidance on religion and belief monitoring. Keep track of complex employee work patterns and training needs New sophisticated absence technology allows multiple rules to be easily applied to employee records, such as complex and varying holiday entitlements and work patterns using Snowdrop Evergreen. Snowdrop Fountain, the training and development module, can now group series of development activities together and apply them simultaneously to a group of individuals. For example, a general induction process may include a variety of standard learning and development activities. These can be grouped together as a ’learning programme’, a quick and easy way of assigning an employee, or groups of employees, to the waiting lists of all elements of that programme.
