South Kesteven District Council goes Online with Snowdrop
May 2007

South Kesteven District Council has upgraded its HR software from Snowdrop and bought its U-Access module, to provide online access to personnel records for both line managers and employees.

The Council will be upgrading to version 5.2 of Snowdrop’s Spring (recruitment); Evergreen with establishment functionality (personnel records management); and Fountain (training administration) modules.

The move to U-Access follows a recent management restructure, providing service managers with more responsibility for people management. Through using an online system, managers will be able to access the information that they need, when they need it, so that they can not only see but also analyse the HR information available to them. For the HR team this means a much greater focus on proactive HR work, whilst creating efficiencies in administrative areas, such as the updating of records. It will also enable staff to access their records for greater transparency.

Joyce Slater, Human Resources and Organisational Development Service Manager for the Council, comments: “We want HR to act as an enabler, rather than a gatekeeper, which will be possible with U-Access. It also means we can use information in a more appropriate way.”
